Composed in 1952, performed for the first time by Jacques Casterède and Christiane Augustin in 1954 at the Société Nationale de Musique, the Suite Guerrière was revised by the author in 1964 and the new version performed by the Doubliers in 1970 at the Heure Musicale de Montmartre. With a hint of irony, it develops "a certain facile, military spirit", in a language of harmonious refined colours close to the neo-modal style of Olivier Messiaen.

It comprises 3 movements. Dynamic and full of bellicose patriotism in Fanfare et Marche, it becomes melancholic in Veillée, and then grandiloquent again, with a touch of romanticism, in Triomphe; it incorporates all the previous motifs in cyclic form in the ironically boastful grand finale, in memory of all the warrior-poet "Cyranos" we find touching, that society first deceives and then idealises.

    - Fanfare et marche     2’

    - Veillée     3’ 26

    - Triomphe     3’ 10
