About the author : RENOUVIN Didier

    • RENOUVIN Didier

Didier Renouvin was born in 1949 in The Hague. While studying piano and viola he also began teaching himself guitar, which helped him to discover different musical worlds - folk, blues, and jazz - which he practiced with other local musicians. It was the discovery of Baden Powell that gave him the desire to create his own music.

He moved to Nice and studied with A. Lagoya, R. Dyens, A. Ponce, C. Worms, and H. Smith. In 1978 he founded the guitar class at the Cannes Conservatory. He then decided to deepen his understanding of composition through courses with M. Vittoria and then with J. Charpentier and L.N. Belaubre.

He founded the Samarkand Trio, an original combination of flute, cello, and guitar, for which he created numerous transcriptions and original compositions. His work as a teacher led him to write a method for guitar that includes studies in the different styles of composition that have influenced him.
