Variations about a theme by Paganini, for a four-handed piano, were composed in 1998. Besides the shape “variations”, they develop a scheme into three parts (A-B-A’). Sometimes inspired by the variations on the same theme by Witold Lutoslawski (superimposed harmonies “classified”), with discreet allusions to the American repeated music (first variation slow, based on two unique harmonies), they alternate brilliant times and expressive bands.
