The use of doubles or triple flutes is a secular tradition in many civilisations, in particular antique and Amerindian. From there, the idea of a work soloist for a “double recorder”. Doppio (“double” in Italian) thus closes a cycle of three “multi-stage” parts (each one being developed more than the following one), all based on this same principle: Diaulos 1, Diaulos 2, Doppio. Consequently, the energy of the breath necessary to the projection of the sound becomes thus resolutely essential.
