These Vignettes are miniatures, duets in the making because, like a travel diary, new ones are added over time.
The flute is my instrument and I like to explore in a very personal way its multiple technical possibilities in a playful spirit close to improvisation. I look for all the sonorities from pure sound to noisy sounds.
Thus, various musical contexts allow me to explore the colours of the breath, the spoken and sung voice, the multiple modes of play... without forgetting references to various models, musical or not, such as the use of flutes in other cultures, the work of sound in electroacoustics, the sounds of the environment whether they are natural or human.
These kinds of studies are a playful opportunity for students to extend the limits of their personal technique. In contrast to 'pedagogical' works, I wanted to offer the apprentice musicians real works in the formal sense of the term. It is my music, but simplified to make it accessible to them.
The writing does not give in to any easy way, so a high level of demand is required in order to play with sensitivity and very precisely what is noted on the score.
These are concert works that professionals can appropriate as brief Fantasias.
