DEVILLERS Jean-Baptiste

Jean-Baptiste Devillers was born in Paris in 1953. He first studied piano, and then composition, analysis, chamber music and percussion at the conservatory of Rouen, where he was awarded first prize for composition in 1974.

He received a grant from the Canadian government to study with Serge Garant and Jean-Jacques Nattiez from 1974 to 1976. In 1981-1982 he was selected for the International Gaudemus Music Week. From1987 until 1989 he worked at the Villa Médicis.

In 1994 ha was admitted to the « Villa Médicis hors les murs » to study in Australia. His works have been performed by a range of ensembles such as (l’Itinéraire, 2e2m, Aleph, Ensemble interContemporain, Arditti Quartet ...)
