ESTELLET-BRUN Michel

Michel ESTELLET-BRUN was born in Bordeaux in 1943.

After an early career in electronics with Air France, he turned to music as a profession and obtained the Diploma of the Schola Cantorum. He went on to study with Gaston Litaize and Pierre Cochereau.

He was the Organist of St Georges (in the 19th arrondissement ofParis) for over 30 years, and, before that, Organist of Beauvais Cathedral and of Notre Dame de la Croix (Paris 20ème). He has also held the appointment of Organist of St Joseph des Nations (Paris 11ème) since the late 1970s.

He has played all over Europe, notably in Germany and in the Czech Republic. He has also given concerts in England (St Paul’s Cathedral, London, and Salisbury Cathedral) and taught master classes there.

He has composed an Oratorio, “La Passion de Ménilmontant” and has several distinguished recordings to his credit. Rooted in the Romantic Tradition, he often composes by improvising in front of an audience, transcribing the music later.
