About author : KEUSTERMANS Michel
Following studies in civil engineering and architecture at Louvain-le-Neuve and his dissertation on Music and Architecture for which he obtained Grand Distinction, Michel Keustermans went on study recorder at the Conservatoire Royal of Brussels in the class of Frederic de Roos, as well as graduating in chamber music and history of music. With his baroque ensemble La Cetra dOrfeo (lacetra.com) he unceasingly explores an innovative world where he mixes many artistic disciplines (poetry, painting, dance, shadow play, juggling and theatre) performing concerts with original themes. He manages to capture the public with simple and convivial presentations appreciated by all.
A keen and enthusiastic pedagogue, he teaches the recorder and chamber music at the Academy of Waterloo. He is often called upon to direct orchestras of young students and professionals in opera projects or symphonic concerts with childrens choirs.
As a composer, he regularly presents to the public and his students new works for choirs, soloists and orchestras increasingly influenced by traditional music and jazz.
