KOWALCZYK Marc

Marc Kowalczyk is a French composer, musicologist and piano teacher, born in 1973 in Clamart (France).

Marc Kowalczyk studied piano, harmony, musical analysis and composition at the Conservatory and musicology at the University of Paris IV-Sorbonne. He has written several reference works (Ouvrages musicaux dans l'ombre, Recueil de citations sur la musique, Roger Tessier compositeur, Dictionnaire du mot piano, Vincent d'Indy sa vie son œuvre son art son caractère) and numerous articles on 20th century music.

As a defender of the music of his time (founder of the Association for the Promotion of Contemporary Music), Marc Kowalczyk regularly gives musical conferences (on contemporary music but also on Robert Schumann, Anton Bruckner, Georg Friedrich Haendel...).

As a composer, he became known during a residency in Thouars (France) in 1995. In 1998 he composed the detective opera Délit d'innocence. He develops the concept of residency in June 2000 in Vanves (92, France) with other artists (painters, poets, directors, dancers, photographers, sculptors, actors ...).

It is from 2009 that he widens the idea of residence by inviting his major work: Au cœur du piano (community of communes of Pieux, Community of communes of Nay, city of Cherbourg-Octeville, city of Loon-Plage...). Au cœur du piano is his piano method (in 2 volumes) recognized throughout the world (published in France, website with videos in Belgium, referenced in Switzerland and Canada, publication of the book Pédagogie du piano on his piano lessons ...). Published in 2004, this piano method proposes his original pieces (including several 4 hands for two students of the same level) following an innovative pedagogy (musical training and technique included, progressive piano practices...).

He currently composes works of all styles (contemporary and modern) which are mostly recorded on CD (12 releases).
