PAVIA Marcela

Born in Rosario (Argentina) Marcela Beatriz Pavia studied at the Universidad Nacional de Rosario taking a degree in Composition. She has followed also master courses with Dante Grela, Francisco Kropfl and Franco Donatoni; she has obtained also the diplomas of the Master Courses of the Civica Scuola di Musica (Milano), of the Accademia Internazionale di Musica “Lorenzo Perosi” (Biella) and of the Summer Courses of the Accademia Chigiana (Siena, 1991,1992).

She has followed also Seminars and Master Classes in Composition with Giorgy Ligeti, Ennio Morricone and Henri Pousseur obtaining also a scholarship given by the Accademia Chigiana (Siena) and being an artist in residence at the “Virginia Center for the Creative Arts” (Usa). She has obtained different awards in National and International Competitions like the 7° International Composition Competition for Guitar “Paolo Barsacchi”, like the International Musical Competition TIM, like the 6° European Competition “Città di Barletta” and the IBLA Grand Prize.

She has published the articles “La estructura de la musica atonal” (The structure of atonal music) published by CODEXX (Associaciò Musica i Comunicaciò- Barcelona) and “El analisis musical” (The musical analysis”) published by the magazine CONCEPTOS ( Universidad del Museo Social Argentino- Buenos Aires).

Her works have been published by Edizioni Curci , Milano (“Nayla” for soloist flute; “Suite Tupac Amaru” for two guitars; “De Puna y Pampa” : argentinian folk music for two guitars) and Edizioni Musicali AGENDA, Bologna (“Solentiname” for clarinet and guitar). She has published also didactic music with Edizioni Curci, Milano (“La Favola di Alighiero e del suo violino”; “Viva Jujuy”: Music Kit for a flexible ensemble) and so on.

She has teached at the Universidad Nacional (Rosario- Argentina), at the Conservatorio Municipal “Manuel de Falla” (Buenos Aires- Argentina), at the Universidad del Museo Social Argentino (Buenos Aires- Argentina) and at the Universidad del Salvador (Buenos Aires). Since 1992 she lives in Italy where she has teached at the Civico Istituto Musical “Folcioni” (Crema), Scuola Civica (Cesano Boscone), at the Civico Liceo Musicale di Varese, at the C.P.S.M Conservatorio “Verdi” (Milan) and at private schools like the Accademia di Musica Moderna (Milano).

She has collaborated with the Segretaria di Cultura of Buenos Aires (Analysis and Compositions Seminars); with the Civica Scuola di Musica of Gorgonzola and the Italian Istitute Goitre (Convention, 1995) and with AUPREMA (“Music and Cinema: Haendel’s Sarabanda in Barry Lindon) Her works have been played in Argentina and Italy ( Asociacion Santafesina de Compositores, Agrupacion Nueva Musica de Rosario, Cluster Ensemble, Accademia Musicale Chigiana of Siena, Octandre Ensemble, guitar duet Maruzzelli-Diegoli, Rocco Parisi , Maria Vittoria Jedlowski and so on) and she has been invited to radio and TV trasmissions.

She is also member of SUONODONNE Italia since 2004 and of International Alliance of Women in Music. Marcela Beatriz Pavia has been given commissions by the Ensemble Barcelona Nueva Musica, by the Fondazione Adkins Chiti “Donne in Musica”, by Fausto Corneo (clarinetist) ,by Maria Vittoria Jedlowski (guitarist) and by the piano duo Carlos Acotto e Julia Man.
