VIEL Nicolas

Nicolas Viel, born in 1965, is “professeur agrégé” in music, doctor in musicology and engineer in physics. Thereby, his field of expertise concerns the 20th century music, particularly the beginning of computer music et the influence of the philosophy of science on musical creation during this time.

At the moment, he’s doing research about algorithmic music. He’s working on the archives from the composer Pierre Barbaud. Composition has always been a central field of his musical activity, be it music using information technology (Maje floru for trombone and electronic device, 2010) or using more classical means for the young (Le géant de Zéralda, after Tomi Ungerer, opera for children, 2009).
