MONNIKENDAM Marius

Marius Monnikendam, was born in Haarlem (near Amsterdam) in the Netherlands. He went to Paris to the Schola Cantorum to study under Vincent d' Indy. While there, he had his first works for piano and cello, published by Sénart and Charles Tournemire dedicated the 38 th section of his Orgue Mystique to him. In 1930 he became Professor of Musical Composition and Analysis at the Amsterdam and Rotterdam Conservatories. His 'Jeremy's Complaints' written for Radio Holland were broadcast during the funeral services of both Princess Wilhelmine and John F. Kennedy.
