After beginning his musical studies in Reims, where he was born in 1962, Vincent PAULET attended the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris where he studied with Jean-Claude Raynaud (harmony), Jean-Claude Henry (counterpoint), Michel Merlet (fugue), Serge Nigg (orchestration), and Claude Ballif (analysis); winning first prize in each of these disciplines.

His training as organist (in the class of Gaston Litaize at the Conservatoire National de Région in Saint-Maur) led him towards concertizing which he finally stopped in 1994 so that he could focus more on composition. Winner of international competitions in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, Kobe (Japan), Trieste and Tarragone (Spain), and the Pierre Cardin and André Caplet prize of the Académie des Beaux-Arts, winner of the Natexis-Banques Populaires Foundation, he was the first French composer to win the “Alea III” prize in Boston in 1997.

Composer in residence at the Renaissance Theater of Oullins (Rhône region), at the “Bel Image” in Valence and then at the Casa de Velazquez in Spain from 1994 to 1996, he teaches harmony and composition at the Conservatoire National de Région in Lille.

His works have been played in several countries in Europe, in the USA and Canada and in Japan and Russia, interpreted by sir Neville Marriner, John Nelson, Jean-Jacques Kantorow, Mark Foster, François-Xavier Roth, Laurent Petitgirard, Lawrence Foster, Joël Suhubiette, Catherine Simonpietri, Isabel Soccoja, Florent Héau, Xavier Gagnepain, Olivier Latry, Jacqueline Méfano, Ishiro Nodaira, Alain Neveux, Bertrand Chamayou, Jonathan Waleson, the Parisii, Ravel and Danel quartets, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, the Orchestre National de Lille, the Orquesta Ciudad de Granada, the Ensemble Orchestral de Paris, the Orchestre Colonne, the BBC Singers, the “Les Eléments” chamber choir, the vocal ensemble Sequenza 9.3, Boston’s Alea III ensemble, 2E2M, Erwartung, Controverse, 2E2M…
