Born into a musical family, Jean-Luc Gillet began to study music at the age of six starting with Piano and cello in Parisian conservatories of music. Moved by a strong musical curiosity, he started to perform live on stage through several concerts and recordings. Over time, he discovered singing, guitar playing, jazz music, composition, orchestration and computer music.

Alongside, his travels brought him to meet and study with Jean-Michel Bardez, Allain Gaussin, Michelle Tosi, Alain Louvier, Stephane Delplace and Edith Canat de Chizy. Meanwhile he kept on studying and graduated Analysis and Harmony certificates. His music, widely influenced by some organic rhythms and harmonies has its roots in a large range of musical worlds, but still crystallizing most of contemporary techniques.
