BOULANGER Lili

Marie-Juliette Boulanger, known as "Lili", was the first woman to win the Grand Prix de Rome for composition. She is also the sister of Nadia Boulanger, a renowned teacher and composer. From the age of 13, Lili wrote works inspired by poetry and literary texts. Cantatas, psalms and melodies form the main part of her corpus. Illness took her away too early, at the age of 24.
