LE DREAU Guillaume

Organist at the Cathedral of Rennes since 2015, he pursues a regular activity as a performer, both as an accompanist and as a soloist. He is particularly interested in 19th century music as well as contemporary creation. However, he practices a vast repertoire, within which improvisation and transcription also find their place.

As a composer, his catalog explores many fields, from piano music to orchestral or vocal music. Thus, Lacrimosa received an honorary prize at the International Music Tournament of Rome; his Poème Fantastique for organ won a second prize for composition Cavaillé-Coll in 2011 and was premiered at the Fondation Royaumont.

These different activities are complemented by a reflection on aesthetics and musicology. His research interests include nineteenth-century religious music and twentieth-century French music (colloquium "Une musique française après 1945?" at the CNSMD in Lyon in 2011, Cavaillé-Coll Days in Rouen) and he is currently working on a project to publish the writings of Florent Schmitt.
