Jacopo Costa is a musician and doctor in musicology at the University of Strasbourg. The main topics of his research are Frank Zappa, Rock In Opposition, the Canterbury scene, as well as the politics of musical experimentation and its reception, which he studies through the perspectives of music history, music analysis, and cultural studies. Since 2013 he has been teaching in the Music Department of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Strasbourg. He is a member of the CREAA laboratory (Centre de Recherches et d'Expérimentation sur l'Acte Artistique). He is the founder of the art rock band Loomings and performs as a soloist and collaborates with several bands such as Yugen, Ske, Oiapok.
