Written in 2006 at the request of Xavier Phillips, Rhapsodie Arménienne is a sort of wink (yet another!) to our common origins. It is part of the program of a disc entitled "Arménia" (recorded for "Lontano", (Choc de la Musique in 2008) and is the natural follow-up to the Varjabedian - Rhapsody for solo violin written for Phillips' older brother, Jean-Marc. Between the frenzy of a frenzied dance and the melancholy, nostalgic sound of a douduk brimming with sadness, these are the emotional colors of this short, energetic yet meditative piece.
