I lived in the wooded region of Ardennes for a long time, where the swinging of the trees in a light breeze always seemed to me the perfect subject for a music piece. The title of my composition, a Biblical reference to 1 Kings 19:11-13, alludes to the moment when God manifests Himself to Elijah, choosing the imperceptible breeze rather than the great strong wind, the earthquake or the fire. The piece weaves together childhood impressions of nature, Gregorian chant (Christus Natus Est - De Profundis) and the world of legend treated in naive and stylized manner (Saint George slaying the dragon). All the piece's motifs will come to intermingle and fuse together in the last sequence, which, gradually, will fade out.
