Ballad for Sandrine from Rodolphe Auguste- Dormeuil, is the third piece from a set of short pieces written for double bass and piano which are representative of popular music of the 20th century.

Alternating between blues, swing to include mainstream rock, reggae, and various Latin genres such as bossa nova, samba and tango and even French musette! In the style of the counterpoint used by Duke Ellington in one of its famous ballads, this sentimental “Ballad for Sandrine” allies elegance and sobriety to be allowed take by the romance.

Written for double bass students towards completion of their degree, these compositions are to be used as teaching tools to help expose students to different styles of music for which there is very little music written.
