These 5 duets for French horn, composed in 1806, are the earliest known compositions by Gioachino Rossini (1792-1868). In those days he learned to sing, compose, and play the violin (and alto), French horn, and piano! Very close friend of virtusoso doublebassist Domenico Dragonetti (1763-1846), Rossini will be the first major composer to write for doublebass. A duet arrangement for doublebass of these 5 pieces, both innovative and creative, seemed to be adjusted to the pedagogic doublebass repertoire.
