« On a bank of the river Ogooué » for piccolo flute and organ, is a work composed in homage to Albert Schweitzer for the centenary (1913-2013) of his arrival in Lambarene. The very free interpretation of the flute, where a sometimes lyrical melancholy flirts with extreme shrillness, is answered by the more serene organ in a medley of colours and timbres, where light and shade strive for a place in the sun – as depicted by Schweitzer in his many letters recounting his life in Africa.

A brilliant first performance took place in Paris at the church of Notre-Dame-des-Champs on 10 october 2013 by Frédéric Werner (flutist), and Yannick Merlin (organist) in the presence of many key personalities, followed, on 17 November 2013, by the official creation at the Festival of Sacred Art in Saverne (Alsace) by the same musicians.
