Vladimir Mayakovsky: Russian poet (1893-1930) of the Futurist movement who celebrated the Bolshevik revolution of October 1917. After his suicide, the Stalinist regime made him its herald, with dimensions distorted by censorship. Omnipresent to the point of overdose for decades, he became in spite of himself and to his great detriment a "classic" of Soviet literature.

A global interpretation of the whole of his work (poetry and theater), partially re-translated for the needs of the critical study (bilingual quotations), reveals a completely different Mayakovsky, whose rigorous philosophical poetics is foreign to the ideological cleavages in which he has been locked up.

Referring insistently to Christ, he asked to be resurrected in the future. This has now been done, in the most astonishing way, through a symbolic reading. The resurrection is undoubtedly the true meaning of his revolutionary approach, which aims at the revolution of thought and the awakening of the individual conscience.
