Arrangement for a 8 parts choir (SI-II AI-II TI-II BI-II) sometimes divided, of this beautiful plowing song from Gascony where chromatic rhetoric figures get in, born from the text where circulate the themes of: «tiredness, fountain, rest, affliction». The composition in 8 voice tries to translate the delicacy of the poem (that evokes the leaves) and the various sentiments that dwell alternately the main character.
From impressions and feelings (tiredness, rest, sorrow, rejection, nostalgia) contained in this beautiful song, much decorated, (of which - as often - there are several versions) and from the ubiquity of aquatic, vegetable and animal elements (the fountain, the leaf – the oak, the rose - the rose tree, the nightingale) chromaticism and bitonality, although rare in the case of arrangements of popular songs, seemed to me flowing naturally.
