The two poems from the book Lyrisme et contre-lyrisme mêlés by Edith Chafer constitute a short diptych dedicated to the ambivalent couple pain/hope. The first poem, Eaux troubles (Dark waters), expresses a painful and gloomy psyche. The second one, Renaissance (Rebirth), is on the contrary more clear and consonant, ending with a radiant A major chord, sounding like a message of hope.
