Le Jour où la Nuit is a short piece for percussion and tape, written after a short film. The unreal, diaphanous atmosphere of the music will delight advanced percussion players.
Nomenclature
- Cymbals (e.g., 17'')
- Frame drum (with no bells) -
- 5 crotales (G A B flat B C)
- Sleigh bells ("asian sounds")
- Shaker (e.g. "egg"-maracas, for children)
The best way to perform the piece is probably to put the set of percussions on a "boom stand", with the crotales on the one side (in which A and B are joined together with a small string) and, on the other side, the "asian" sleigh bells, the suspended cymbal and even the frame drum if needed. If no stand is available, the musician can set a table in front of him and display the percussions on it.
