Porto 1492: A wind of innovation blows across Europe at the height of the Renaissance. Science, art and technology were revolutionized. The functioning of the human body was discovered, perspective and opera were invented, and new techniques revolutionized navigation. In Germany, Gutenberg invented the printing press, and a Polish astronomer by the name of Copernicus even claimed that the earth was round. But how to prove it? There's only one solution: try to circumnavigate it by boat. Our valiant mice prepare to cast off and explore. But the adventure holds many surprises... Will they reach their goal?
This project was born out of a meeting between a schoolteacher and a librettist, both of whom had been working with primary school children for nearly ten years on singing and opera. They decided to join forces to invent this innovative project: to create a short, sung work, an "opera", based on school learning.
