Based on an idea and commissioned by Pierre Dausse - Music Advisor to the Lot et Garonne School Inspectorate - this show was written for 2-voice choir, piano/harpsichord, string quartet and flute, with the aim of introducing JS Bach's work to older elementary school pupils.
Myrtille and Sébastien, two children who enjoy magic, lead us in a short story to discover JS Bach's music, on which lyrics have been written to make it easier to memorize the excerpts used.
For ease of implementation, a few passages of text or second sung voices (marked in orange) can be omitted without altering the quality of the whole. It is possible to use the score without resorting to staging, just for the sheer musical pleasure of it, simply as a piano-chant, and why not by adding a jazz double bass and drums.
It can be integrated into a more global project around JS Bach: other excerpts of works, links with Baroque dance, Bach with jazz (Jacques Loussier, Swingle singers, Édouard Ferlet), Lambarena-type Cross Over, etc... Enjoy the music!
