The "Little Poem" (1909) is in a three-part structure. The extreme parts are built around a very simple theme that will grow multiple canonic imitations. As for the central part, it is surprising at first by its rhythmic ostinato pattern exhibited by the violin and viola in unison or octave, then a very strange harmonies, the piano showing the rhythm pattern in the bass strings while the state in some minor bits of the theme.
