Danse à sept is a happy, rhythmic piece of dance music with marked contrasts which evoke traditional Macedonian dances. The oboe reminds one of the traditional instruments like the Tárogató.
The first part is based on an even Hungarian 7 beat (2+ 2+ 3).
The second part is more melodic and uses a 7 beat (3+ 2+ 2) similar to the fast Greek dance called kalamatianos.
A reminder of the theme of the first movement ends the piece of music brilliantly.
