This transcription of the Songs of a wayfarer (Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen ) has been conceived for a 3 keyboards symphonic instrument.

The registrations specified throughout the score suggest a general atmosphere without necessarily become obligatory. The organist may, depending on the sonic possibilities of the instrument played, its esthetic, and also according to his own sensibility, adjust his own tones, respecting however the character required.

Each Lied was processed in the manner of an organ chorale prelude, each taking a different form : ornamented, trio, toccata and 4-parts chorale. The organist interpreter careful not to make the mistake to make the transcription “look like” the original work, especially by adding some elements other than those already written. In fact, try with an organ to get closer to the orchestra or to the human voice would be an unnecessary heaviness. Choices that have been made can play a piece for organ, written for the organist. Therefore be avoided, especially by the choice of registration and phrasing, to get closer to the original necessarily, but rather stay in character to the organ literature.
