Yves Lafargue composed Sur le nom de Jules Magen (Upon Jules Magen’s name) in 1994, as a tribute to one of the organs he played since he began studying the instrument. This piece Uses the letters from Jules Magen, the organ builder’s name, as a musical theme. It is written for soft symphonic-styled stops, in a style that reminds that the composer had just discovered the works by Dukas, especially his Prélude élégiaque for the piano.
