Bach's "little organ book" (Orgelbüchlein) is a jewel box: 47 short pieces full of invention, fantasy and real invention. As you'd expect, playing these chorales in pairs rather than alone is infinitely easier. The keyboard parts thus obtained are all of a very affordable technical level: they range from extremely easy to relatively easy, so that, depending on the case, a young student will be able to play them with his teacher or a classmate, or two amateurs will enjoy deciphering them as a duo.

Installing two keyboard instruments in the same room, which was once a problem, is no longer one today. Don't hesitate to use a digital keyboard in conjunction with a piano. Memory keyboards also make it possible to play these pieces in halves, or to play a piano duet on your own.

As well as opening up to other practices, there is a real musical interest in presenting these chorales in a writing for two instruments. Sometimes the "figures" respond to each other from one instrument to the other, and it is clearer for the listener and more pleasant for the instrumentalists to materialize these imitations by an exchange between the two keyboards; sometimes the "musical ideas", clearly rhythmic, benefit from being played on the piano, to oppose the fluidity of the melodic flows.
