E-SCORE PDF VERSION
This hymn, Labourdin both in terms of language and tune, has been transmitted orally since its creation in the 17th century. It is a splendid example of the intense and sober fervour characterizing many Basque songs, be they religious or secular. Naturally, this black diamond, which was cut and reshaped by time, was conducive to meditation. “Zato, Izpiritua” (“Come, Holy Spirit”) can be seen as a “Veni Sancte Spiritus” in the liturgical style of the Basque country.
