Aware of the difficulty of performing my passacaglia, I decided to write one or more works within the range of my modest organist skills. In the joy of rediscovering an instrument that my piano studies had led me to abandon too early, I conceived and gave birth in the same day to the septuplets that make up this collection.
They bear the hallmark of youth, a youth that had combined joie de vivre with perpetual inventive zeal. On the advice of many organists, I have not indicated any registrations. This is not a resignation: we must trust the performer's good musical sense to adapt the registers of each instrument to each of these pieces.
