Introduction, Variations and Finale upon « Saint Nicholas’ Legend » is a concert piece intended for a French symphonic instrument (a neoclassical organ would also be suitable, provided it would be have enough fundation stops).

It pays tribute to the improvisations of Pierre Cochereau (1924-1984), with some of their formal and stylistic elements. It was out of question to imitate the music of the organist of Notre-Dame of Paris, but to use certain of its tricks to develop an original composition. All parts are designed to be crossfaded without breaks, breathings and fermatas are indicated in the score. It will be advisable to modify their duration according to the acoutics of the room. Registrations are general nuances, they can be adapted to the possibilities of each individual organ, as long as the original color isn’t fundamentally altered.

In some cases, several registrations are possible, this is left to the judgement of the musicians.
