In my organ class, I have always been confronted with the delicate problem of choosing pieces adapted to young students taking their first steps on the pedalboard. The traditional repertoire is often not specifically adapted: pieces that are too long, too difficult or even of questionable musical interest. For the teacher, there is also the problem of the progression in difficulty.
I therefore asked Francis Chapelet to write a suite of short organ pieces for the pedalboard, which he gladly accepted.
The result is a suite of 10 pieces of remarkable ingenuity and musicality in different styles ranging from trio to "praeludium" in the style of Buxtehude or a very beautiful passacaglia on a theme of Purcell.
Thanks to a controlled and progressive difficulty, a refined writing going to the essential and a great musicality, these 10 pieces will know how to make the happiness of the young pupils beginning the use of the pedalboard.
