The titles, Prelude and Fugue, Fantasy and Fugue, Ricercar... make no secret of the reference to J.S. Bach. This is because Bach, encouraged in his youth by the old Reinken - happy to see that his art was not going to die with him - magnified in his organ work a tradition coming from the Northern School, bringing it to a degree of absolute perfection.

But rather than considering this organ work as the crowning achievement of a "language" that could only be used for the rest of time, it seems that subsequent generations have hastened to move away from it... for their greatest happiness, of course.

But a composer born after 4'33" (of silence!) cannot have the same attitude, and the quest for modernity having lost all attraction, it is towards the jubilation of this "pure language" that he may be tempted to turn.

It is then necessary for him to rely only on the power of generation of his own ideas - under penalty of falling into the hell of the exercise of style - and, privilege to act in a way "after the history" of the tonality, not to renounce any of the singularities which they carry in them.

The aim here is not to make people believe in the reality of an 18th century work, but rather, like a gardener, to surround the growth of his themes or subjects in this same spirit.
