Noël Lee (an American born in Nanking, China, on December 25, 1924) composed Mosaics, his only organ work, in 1989. Commissioned by Pierre Lacroix, Yves Castagnet premiered it at the Festival in Saint-Bertrand-de-Comminges on July 9, 1989.

This dodecaphonic and neo-classical virtuosic work develops varied rhythms, sonorities and themes. In 1997, Noël Lee transcribed it for two pianos and percussion. The registrations, prepared by Dominique Merlet and Carolyn Shuster Fournier for a three-manual organ, can be adapted to organs with two or four ma- nuals. In passages without bar lines, an accidental refers only to the note unless the same note is immediately repeated. The accented notes may be doubled, either on the pedal, or on the first keyboard.
