Sicilienne is a short piece for soprano recorder and piano. As the title indicates, this piece (ternary) uses the rhythm of Sicily as the main element. The melody, heard alternatively on recorder or piano, is in E minor and evokes a sad personality tinged with nostalgia. The section for recorder is written for a student who has worked with the instrument for around two years. The section for piano should be entrusted to a teacher or an advanced piano student.
