« Voices of Australia » was first written for flute in 2002 during a residency at EMU (Electronic Music Unit), University of Adelaide, Australia. The version for soprano saxophone was commissioned by Giuseppe Laterza, and the composer wrote it in 2015.
« Voices of Australia » is made of a saxophone part that imitates the songs of six Australian birds (Brolga, Crested Bellbird, Southern Boobook, Chiming Wedgebill, Fan-tailed Cuckoo and Whip Bird), and a recorded part, that was made during a party in the South Australian bush.
