« Une souris verte, qui courait dans l’herbe » (a green mouse, running in the grass) … This folksong, very famous in France, is the starting point of this piece for trombone and piano, written for students in the end of second cycle. My purpose was to represent the playground atmosphere during the playtime. After a brief introduction on the song theme, short movements follow one another, with different kind of tempo and nature. It reveals cheerfulness, musing, joy of living but also sarcasm, mockery, foolishness as much as greatness. Everything that gives childhood its charm. The piece ends with a very fast tempo which will require a big work of the arm and the joints. As for the mouse, we don’t really know what happened to her…
