Written and dedicated to the memory of Joseph La Marca, professor at the Conservatoire d’Aix-en-Provence (CRD), these 12 short pieces were originally melodic chants and based on the months of scholastic calendar. Each piece, modern harmonies, depicts a very special atmosphere, highlighted by the title, becoming difficult for an expressive interpretation.
The piano accompaniment, medium difficulty, supports the melody which is played by the viola, accentuates the required atmosphere: nostalgic, hazy, or amusing (tango). The interpreters transit their “feeling” to the listener, which shows their musical and technical qualities and required mastery of the difficult complicit of the duo.
