Quatre pièces « in memoriam André David » for violin

12 pages , 21 x 29,7 cm

Collection Le Violon Rouge

See digital edition

Following a recording of Monisme, by André David, the idea was born of a jointly-composed piece in his honour, with the violin as the means of communication. Four composers expressed a wish to honour the memory of their friend, who died in 2007. The collection of pieces, as it emerged, seemed to fall naturally into the form of a Suite. Each piece, however, is self-sufficient and may be played on its own.

The collection consists of :

- Elégie, by Jean-Jacques Werner 05:00

- Asclépios-Grophée by Alain Margoni 02:40

- In Mémoriam André David by Jacques Castérède 03:00

- Comme une mélopée [Like a Study in Melody-Writing] by Charles Chaynes 03:30
