The work is made of two contrasted movements. The first (9th Sonnet to Orpheus) is gloomy, rather funeral, but ends in the most peacefull and contemplative mood. The second (22th Sonnet to Orpheus) begins in the tempo prestissimo impalpabile , but the ballet of illusions fades and the piece ends very slowly, in the deepest calm. The vocal and instrumental writing is always full of lyricism and dream.
