Papyrus is a little piece for a string orchestra of beginners (two or three years of learning).
The orchestra is complete : Vl 1 and 2, Vla, cello, double-bass. There is no measure (except in one place) : the conductor leads the musiciens from one "measure/section" to the next. Méduse is for the same orchestra two or three years later... The music is mainly harmonic (but not tonal) and the measure is very precise. It sounds very gloomy, like in fantastic movies. The contemporary style of these two pieces is a good introduction at the music of our time for young people in a string orchestra.
