Laurent Zakowsky was born in Pau in 1967. At the age of fifteen, he left to apprentice as a violin maker at the Mirecourt school. To perfect his training, he spent two years in Venice and then in various Parisian workshops. His path then led him to discover other ways of living and loving the instrument.
