Born in 1973, Julien Dassié studied percussion with Jean Geoffroy and piano with Serge Heintz before entering the Paris CNSM, where he won five first prizes (harmony, counterpoint, fugue, Renaissance polyphony and orchestration), three of which were awarded by a unanimous jury.

In 2000, while a student in Guy Reibel’s composition class, he won the 3rd Franco-Australian Composition Competition with his first string quartet. Among the numerous groups he works with are the ensemble Les Cordes, with whom a commission and a project to record his concerto for viola, la Tentation de Saint Antoine, are underway, the Télémaque ensemble (2004 recording of Ode à Eugène Leroy), and the ensemble Les Noces

In May 2004, the countertenor Philippe Jaroussky and Les Cordes premiered El buen alumno, a musical tale, at the National Auditorium of Madrid. An accomplished marimbist, Dassié has performed his own works on several occasions.

Also interested in film music, he received a commission from the television group ARTE for Ugo Falena's film Romeo and Juliette (1912).
