Pianist and composer, Olivier Calmel began to study piano at 7 years old and the composition at the age of 10. After classical studies in Paris (harmony, couterpoint, form, fugue, and orchestration prizes with Guillaume Conesson) he studied jazz improvisation.  He leads several musical projects, such as the OC [Quartet], an acoustic quartet of which the first album, 'Mafate' carries off a deep membership.

In the continuity of this album and numerous concerts in festivals and clubs (Composition Prize at the National Competition 'La Défense Jazz Festival, Prize-winner of the National Competition 'Jazz à Vannes Festival', Prize-winner of the 'Avon Festival'), he introduced the 'Empreintes' project (Musicaguild/Abeille Musique), greeted by criticism and encouraged by Didier Lockwood.

He also plays with other numerous artists (Michel Portal, Why Cie, jazz, electro world...).  >From a family of musicians, always enthusiastic by the film music, he composes the soundtrack of several shorts and middle, as well as for institutional films, and now works on his first long movie.

He also composes for contemporary music, such as the woodwind quintet ArteCombo, the Pantin Harmony Orchestra (Honor Division), Achromates trio (voice, flute and accordion), Musinema Quatuor (four cellos), the duo Ingognita (two pianos), the El Gancho duo (violin, piano), Links duo (piano, percussions), etc.
