PETERSSON Per Gunnar

Per Gunnar Petersson is a Swedish composer, organist and choral conductor. He studied at the Vienna Academy of Music from 1973 to 1977 with Anton Heiller as professor of organ, improvisation and composition, graduating with the unanimous distinction of all his teachers. He continued his composition studies under Knut Nystedt in Oslo.

Per Gunnar Petersson was organist and choirmaster in Almhult parish from 1978 to 2018. He is an honorary member of the Swedish Association of Church Musicians. Per Gunnar Petersson's catalog contains over 100 compositions, mainly choral and organ music, although other instruments are also represented. His music is performed in many countries. He has received a number of awards and won several prizes in composition competitions. He recently became composer-in-residence with the Mogens Dahl Chamber Choir in Copenhagen.
